 Construction work in the State of Maine is regulated. General contractors do not need a license. Workers' Compensation insurance is required, for more information contact the Maine Workers' Compensation Board at 1-888-801-9087. To ensure you have adequate liability coverage contact the Secretary of State, 207-626-8400  and/or check with your county specifically. Every contractor is required to pass the OSHA exam. Any out-of-state contractor wishing to work in the state must be licensed by the Division of Corporations.
